Purpose of the Data Adaptor
To collect data for use with the new range of applications in DealXL, you will need to download one of our Data Adaptors and save it into the same folder as the sheets (usually c:\dealxl\sheets).

Features

• Each Adaptor is preset with all the data links needed to support the sheets that you are using.
• Each data item is requested once, even though it may be used in mutiple sheets
• It should be opened first, before any other sheets.
• It does take time to collect all the data and this time varies with the number of links and the data mechanism being used. For example, Reuters RtGet as provided with Reuters PowerPlus will deliver data considerably quicker than RStream as used by Reuters Trader.
• This new method of requesting data is considerably more efficient and means that users can be readily connected to any source without needing new DealXL applications each time.

Operation

• The Data Adaptor sheet is a simple Excel sheet that connects to your data provider and requests the data.
• Each DealXL sheet then requests data from the Data Adaptor.

Note for existing users
Any sheets supplied in the past will continue to operate normally and will be unaffected by this new setup. However, if you wish to convert your old sheets to using the Data Adaptor, contact us and we will be pleased to make the changes for you.
